Drift, my second novel, was published in 2003, and was selected by the American Library Association as one of the 100 Best Books of the Year in 2004.  Robert Lomos is the battered boy left behind by his mother after she has a nervous breakdown and takes his baby brother to Los Angeles, leaving Robert behind because he is “troubled.”  He decides to run off from the care of his grandmother in San Antonio, and to travel to L.A. to find his fragile mother and prove himself.  Both funny and heartbreaking, this is my favorite authored book.
